Cycling The Haute Route

Cycling The Haute Route

It’s Day Five on the Haute Route, an 800km, seven-day bike race through the Alps from Nice to Geneva. Today, just like all the other days I will be on my bike for just shy of eight hours. I grind up 50kms of mountains and fly down the other side finishing today's stage at 141kms. I climb three mountains. All are higher, and some are twice the height, of the highest mountain in the UK.

Over the course of the week I will ascend the height of Mount Everest 2.4 times. I share this experience with 500 people from all over the world, each and every one of us questioning our sanity at one stage or another. Today is my day.

A New Fitness Challenge

A New Fitness Challenge

It’s Friday night, verging on 3am and I’m dancing the night away in Soho. I really should go home because I have gym at 9am. The friends I’m with don’t believe I will stick to my commitment, but my mind is resolute. Saturday wouldn’t be the same without it. Neither would every day I seem to find myself there.

This is new for me. Very new for me. I am normally an outdoor fitness kind of girl. Previously I’ve found gyms boring and lacking in personality and community. I preferred training outside year round because I like training with whatever the weather throws and simply, being outside. Going for a run or cycle costs me nothing whereas gyms can be expensive. Since I started my fitness journey in 2008 I have spent very little time in gyms. But there is one gym that has completely changed my mind about all of this, Evolve353.

Adventures in Iceland

Adventures in Iceland

Iceland seems to be one of those destinations that everyone is talking about. Many of my friends have either been there or are super keen to go. My social media feeds are often full of people hanging out with Icelandic ponies, admiring waterfalls or bathing in hot springs. Now I understand why, and am an thrilled to have had the opportunity to explore this amazing country with my brother, Luke.

Mountains and Hot Springs in Iceland

Mountains and Hot Springs in Iceland

We’ve been hurtling along this dirt track road for half an hour and as far as the eye can see there’s barren, volcanic land. It feels like we could be on the moon. We’ve taken this detour to visit Godafoss, reputed to be Iceland’s most powerful waterfall. I’m not convinced. I can’t imagine there could be any waterfalls round here. The ground is flat and barren for miles and miles in every direction.

Treasured Moments in Greece

Treasured Moments in Greece

Mum and daughter time is incredibly special and although we live together, we often pass each other like ships in the night. We talk about practical things a lot; she helps me with business dilemnas and decisions and helps me when I need someone to practise my talks with. But we don’t make enough time just to relax with each other and have fun.

Why I ran the London Marathon in Body Paint

Why I ran the London Marathon in Body Paint

On Sunday 24th April I ran the Virgin London Marathon dressed head-to-toe in body paint displaying inspirational messaging and patterns. Starting at 4am, the talented Jules from Bentley Body Art started first with the paint, then with the messages, patterns and finally, glitter and a few gems. As the paint went on, I grabbed my phone and wrote the words which flowed from me.
