The BT Swimathon is a fantastic event which inspires people to get in the pool and improve their swimming. This is the third time I've entered, I have done the individual 5km distance twice and once in a team of three as a work challenge.
5km is a decent distance, this year I was swimming in London Fields Lido in East London and had to complete 100 lengths of the 50m pool to earn my medal. I was a little nervous before hand and feeling tired as it was the day after returning home from my training camp.
Once in the water the first 50 lengths felt quite pleasant and after that I was on the home stretch. I finished the swim in 1hr 31 minutes, the supporting from people really helped me pick up speed through the last 20 lengths.
In case you hadn't noticed, I LOVE challenges. I love coming up with new ones, the rush I get when I book onto an event or get a crew together for a crazy mission. Most of all, I love pushing myself and the feeling I get afterwards - you can't help but feel good and have a smile from ear to ear. This is a great little challenge and you don't have to swim 5km, do something different today and take on a new challenge! If you need any help or inspiration deciding what to do, contact me.
