I've had some very exciting and unexpected news. A while ago I came across this competition called The Big Blog Exchange which attracted entries from 1173 bloggers all over the world. The concept works in that you register your blog, get people to vote for you and the 25 people with the most votes from each country go into a draw to pick a final 14 winners. The winners then swap blogs, places, adventures around the world for a ten day all expenses paid bloggers dream. The top blogs had over 1000 votes, I had 3.
You can imagine my suprise when I received an email saying I was one of the winners. I didn't believe it to be true until they started contacting me on twitter to trigger a response. At that point, I still didn't believe it to be true until I saw my name on the exchange list posted on the website. My response? "OMG what is going on, I'm going to Singapore!"
How did I win?
Although 14 of the winners are selected on votes and luck being selected in the draw, the judges also select 2 wildcards based on their criteria. The aim being that they don't want the competition to be a popularity contest and want to support blogs who may have just started or not had the chance to build their following. They said they were impressed with my blog and wanted to support it.
Thank you so much judges, I will not let you down!! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am now preparing to go to Singapore for 1o days from the 7th to 17th of June.
What does the prize involve?
It's the opportunity to live and learn in a different place, for me Singapore. To exchange cultures, lives, blogs and experiences with Kisty Mea http://kisty.net/
Flights, accomodation, expenses and a host of activities to ensure I make the most of my trip there are included in the prize. They know I like challenges so are trying to come up with a few for me!
I'm sure you can imagine I am massively excited about the trip and seeing the itinerary they are planning for me. Most of all, this is a huge confidence boost because I only started this blog when I made the (BIG) decision to leave my job and security behind at the end of last year. Without making that decision, I would not have started my blog and would not have won this competition.
THANK YOU to everyone who reads my blog and encourages me to keep going with the writing and the challenges.
Stayed tuned for updates on Singapore and other challenges. As ever, get in contact if you have any feedback, suggestions or know someone in Singapore who may be up for a challenge...
I received this package in the post, I actually screamed when I opened it. A real girly, OMG, type scream because no-one was around to hug.
