A few weekends ago, I jumped into a hired minibus and drove to Snowdonia in Wales with Charley and a few people I met through Twitter. We had all met in BrewDog for a few beers two weeks previously and got along rather well. We decided our newly found friendship should be explored with a trip to the hills and so it was. Here's a short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh8Q8NRyyCg
Let me introduce you to the crew:
Charley @digitalsteak - budding entrepreneur, experienced product manager and aspiring alpinist (also my husband)
Chris @flowcoacher - personal and business coach, helping people be the best they can be, enjoy life and make money
Laura @kenningtonLA - personal trainer with a huge appetite for life, rowing across the Pacific Ocean in 2014
Tarran @Tarran008 - Ironman Wales finisher, setting off on a year of adventure and new challenges
Russ @hikebikerun2014 - setting his sights high with a big challenge for 2014!
Jason @jasonrawles - mountaineer and general lover of the outdoors and whiskey
We hired a bunk house with two rooms and a very intimate toilet. Not ideal when you are not used to living in such close confinement with each other!
Often in life, I adapt and find myself being a version of myself that fits with the situation, people or conversation around me. This last year has been an exploration into who I am, my values, how I live my life and the people I share it with. I love being around people who I feel I can be completely myself with, people who breakdown any facade and uncover the reality of who I really am.
Getting the combination right, of being with wonderful people in the great outdoors, an environment that inspires me to be creative, adventurous, and often silly, always makes me happy. The result is food for my soul, music for my spirit and fuel for my ambition to be as limitless as all of ours should be.
When I look back on our weekend in Wales, I smile. I think of the things that made me laugh at the time, and I laugh again. The weekend was a ball of fun in the hills, wild swimming, rain, whiskey, chocolate, great conversations and new friendships forged. I couldn't have asked for any thing more.
Go and explore your limitless ambition. We all have ambition and dreams, sometimes we just need a bit of help and support to believe that we shouldn't restrict them and they should be explored.
P.S Anyone who wants to come on the next trip, let me know, I'd love to meet you!
