Bathtub 2 Boardroom
Today I felt like a kid on my first day at a new school! I packed my laptop, note pads, pens, blank paper and my running shoes (because all the most productive days in my life have some form of exercise in them) and headed off to Bathtub 2 Boardroom to create new ventures.
Bathtub 2 Boardroom is a charity dedicated to promoting and supporting entrepreneurship in the UK. They provide training and shared workspaces to entrepreneurs, free lancers or people like me who don’t have a label yet but want to work somewhere fun, creative and with like-minded people.
I’ve been in love with this space since the first day I set foot in here a few months ago. Every time I’ve shared beers with people working here, I’ve left feeling excited and buzzing from their creativity and energy. To be here myself now is a dream come true.
Based on the canal in Hackney, the space holds an interesting history, originating as a church, it became a squat before Marlon renovated it and turned it into his home, party house and a recording/artist studio for 10 years before dedicating it to being the daily hub of 40 entrepreneurs.
Inside, the natural light floods what was once the interior of the church. We have a telephone booth, a stair way and landing crafted into the shape of a lion, a chill out area in the rafters only accessibly by a 12 foot ladder, a bathtub and of course a boat for meetings on the canal. This is Hackney after all.
After settling into my new desk, responding to a few non-work related emails and posting on twitter and facebook about how today was the first day of the rest of my life, I had done all the procrastinating I could and set about doing something productive.
